Who is agreeing to what.
In short
By using this part of our website or downloading DMV Master, you agree to these terms. If you don't, please don't. Both halves of that sentence matter.
These Terms of Service ("Terms") form a binding agreement between you and Nordic Theory Labs AB ("we", "us", "studio"), a Swedish limited company based in Stockholm, Sweden — organisation details available on request.
They govern your use of:
- The DMV Master iOS and Android application.
- The pages at nordictheorylabs.com/apps/dmv-master/.
- Any future products explicitly linked to these Terms.
If you are using the service on behalf of an organisation, you confirm you have authority to bind that organisation. If you are under 18, your parent or guardian agrees on your behalf.

What we provide, and what we don't promise.
In short
We build educational software, designed thoughtfully. We try very hard for it to be available, accurate and useful — but we don't guarantee perfection, uptime, or your exam result.
The studio designs and operates educational software. DMV Master is a study aid for U.S. state driver's license knowledge (written) tests. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or a substitute for materials published by any state Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), or time spent with a licensed instructor.

No exam guarantee
Passing your state's knowledge test depends on study, attention and the specific rules your state tests on. We build DMV Master to maximise your chances — we cannot, and do not, guarantee any specific result. Refunds are not issued because a test was failed.
Availability
We aim for high availability but provide the service on an "as is" and "as available" basis. Maintenance windows, third-party outages, or unforeseen events may interrupt the service.
Beta features
Features marked "beta", "lab", or "experimental" are provided for testing and may change or be removed without notice. They are excluded from any uptime expectation.
State coverage
DMV Master launches with content for California, Texas, Florida, and New York, alongside federal content that applies nationwide. We intend to add more states over time; a state not yet covered is not a defect, and we make no promise about when — or whether — a specific state will be added.

Your account, and your device.
In short
DMV Master is tied to your Apple ID or Google account, not to a separate Nordic Theory Labs login. Keep it safe; we never ask you for it.
We do not operate our own user accounts. Subscriptions and any family sharing are handled by Apple through your Apple ID, or by Google through your Google account, depending on which store you installed from. You are responsible for:
- Keeping your Apple ID or Google account and device secure.
- The activity that happens under your Apple ID or Google account.
- Configuring parental controls — Family Sharing / "Ask to Buy" on iOS, or Family Library / supervised accounts on Google Play — if children use your device.
If you suspect your Apple ID or Google account has been compromised, contact Apple Support or Google Play Support directly. We have no ability to recover, reset, or transfer subscriptions managed by Apple or Google.

Acceptable use.
In short
Use the service the way you'd use a quiet library. Don't break it, don't resell it, don't use it to do things that hurt people.

- Use DMV Master to prepare for your state's knowledge test.
- Share screenshots on social media — credit appreciated.
- Quote short passages from our website for review or commentary.
- Write to us with feedback, bug reports, or feature requests.
×You may not
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract the question bank.
- Resell, sublicense, or commercially redistribute the service.
- Use the service to bring actual answers into a live exam.
- Probe, scan, or stress-test our infrastructure without permission.
- Use the service for anything illegal in your jurisdiction.
Violating these rules may result in suspension of access without refund and, where appropriate, referral to authorities. We will tell you what we found and give you a chance to respond, unless doing so would compromise an investigation.

Subscriptions, payments, refunds.
In short
Apple or Google sells our subscriptions, depending on which store you installed from. Apple or Google handles refunds. We don't process your card or see what you spent.
What the subscription unlocks
A DMV Master subscription unlocks the full question bank, all study modes, all supported languages, and unlimited mock-exam attempts. A free tier covers a sample of the content so you can decide before subscribing.
Current pricing
Prices are displayed in USD (or your local App Store / Google Play currency) and may change. The most up-to-date prices always live on the App Store or Google Play listing, once published. This app has not yet launched on either store as of this Terms version — pricing details will be added here before submission.
Auto-renewal
Recurring subscriptions auto-renew through Apple or Google at the end of each period unless cancelled at least 24 hours before renewal. On iOS, cancel any time in Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions. On Android, cancel any time in the Google Play Store app → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions.
Refunds
All payments are processed by Apple or Google, depending on your platform. To request an App Store refund, follow Apple's process at reportaproblem.apple.com. To request a Google Play refund, use play.google.com/store/account or Google Play's support channels. We do not have authority to issue refunds for App Store or Google Play transactions, but we will support reasonable requests when contacted by Apple or Google.

Intellectual property.
In short
The studio owns the design, code, and writing. You own the data you create inside the app. Logos and names are ours; trademark notices apply.
All software, text, design, illustrations, logos, the Signal mark, and the DMV Master name are owned by Nordic Theory Labs AB or licensed to us. They are protected by applicable copyright and trademark law.
We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the service for personal, non-commercial purposes, subject to these Terms.
Content you create inside the app — notes, bookmarks, study tags — remains yours. It is stored on your device and we claim no ownership of it.
Question and study content is written to mirror federal traffic law (the MUTCD) and each state's official driver's handbook, but is independently paraphrased — it is not a copy of any state or federal publication, and DMV Master is not affiliated with the agencies that publish those materials.
If you believe content on our service infringes your IP, write to support@nordictheorylabs.com with a description of the work, its location on our service, and your contact details.

Disclaimers — what we are not.
In short
We're a study aid, not a school. Not a driving instructor. Not a DMV. Not your lawyer or your insurer.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, completeness, or non-infringement.
Without limiting the generality of the above:
- We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of any state Department of Motor Vehicles, the NHTSA, the FHWA, or any other government body.
- Question content is written to mirror official federal and state sources but may differ in wording, emphasis, or scope, and may lag behind recent regulatory changes.
- Practical driving — vehicle control, road behaviour — is not taught by the app and requires a licensed instructor.
- State-specific figures (exam length, pass thresholds, GDL ages, BAC limits) are sourced from public state materials where available and are provided for study purposes; always confirm current requirements with your state DMV before your test.
- Your statutory rights as a consumer are not affected by this clause.

Limitation of liability.
In short
If we mess up and it costs you money, we'll make it right up to what you paid us in the last 12 months. We don't cover indirect losses — but we never limit liability where the law forbids it.

Placeholder figure — confirm before publishing
The $50 floor below is a placeholder matching the pattern used in our other product's terms (500 SEK). It's a business/legal decision, not a fact we're asserting — set the real number (or confirm this one) before this page goes live.

Direct losses — to the extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or the service is capped at the greater of $50 USD or the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose.

Indirect losses — we are not liable for indirect, consequential, special, or incidental damages, including lost time, lost study progress, missed exam slots, or loss of opportunity. This is the part of the contract people care about most; we're flagging it plainly.

What we never limit — liability for our own gross negligence or wilful misconduct, for personal injury or death we cause, for consumer-protection obligations that cannot be waived under your state's law, and for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded. Those remain fully in force.

Ending the agreement.
In short
Stop using the service. Cancel your subscription in iOS Settings or the Google Play Store app. Delete the app. That's it from your side. We may end the agreement only for material reasons, and we'll tell you why.
You can end this agreement at any time by uninstalling the app and discontinuing use of the website. Cancelling your subscription is handled in iOS Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions, or on Android in the Google Play Store app → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions.
We may suspend or end the agreement if you materially breach these Terms, if continued provision would be unlawful, or if we discontinue the service. Unless prevented by law, we'll give you reasonable notice and an opportunity to remedy any breach.
Sections about Intellectual Property, Disclaimers, Limitation of Liability, and Governing Law survive termination.

Governing law, and where we'd argue.
In short
Swedish law, because that's where the company is based. If you're a consumer in the U.S. or the EU, you keep the non-waivable protections of your home jurisdiction's law.
These Terms are governed by the laws of Sweden, excluding its conflict-of-laws rules and the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods.
Disputes will be brought before Stockholms tingsrätt as the court of first instance. If you are a consumer resident in the United States, you retain any consumer-protection rights under your state's law that cannot be waived by contract, and nothing here is intended to require you to litigate a dispute somewhere a court would find that unconscionable or otherwise unenforceable under your state's law. If you are a consumer resident in an EU member state, you retain the mandatory protections of your home country's consumer law.
